Happy Tuesday! How was everyone’s weekend? I feel like we got a lot done, although the main thing on the list was to get in the Christmas spirit. I usually take my time when it comes to Christmas decorations, I know I know so unlike 2017! Or maybe I feel like I have been looking at Christmas trees on social media for the last six weeks that I was like…..do we really even need a tree? But I set aside my Grinch-ness and indulged my children’s need for all things merry and bright. Saturday we we got our tree, which the kids were so excited for. I of course was excited for my house being filled with that wonderful Christmas tree scent. We broke out the holiday mugs, hot chocolate, and marshmallows as big as our heads!
Saturday we headed downtown to see the 50ft Christmas tree on Broughton Street. Sadly, I didn’t get a picture because Odette is at the stage where her one and only purpose in toddler life is to give me a heart attack, as she bolts in any direction the second I put her down. After we marveled at the tree, we headed to Jones Street which is considered to be the prettiest street in Savannah. I have to say that I would definitely agree. The high stooped Greek revival homes, the overarching trees that line the sides of the street, and just about every other home quaintly decorated for Christmas. Jones Street stole my heart on a Sunday afternoon.
The promise to take the kids to see the gingerbread house display at The Westin interrupted my leisurely stroll, because I mean….gingerbread houses! The kids didn’t realize that they would not be partaking in any eating of the gingerbread houses, which in Ace’s words was “such a let down”. But I think all these little activities got us riding high on Christmas cheer! I am so happy we were able to get out of the house. Last week I basically spent my time recuperating from my little stint in the hospital, and now this week I am gearing up for another treatment. Next on my list of holiday activities is Christmas lights, all the Christmas lights!
